  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1½ teaspoons garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ¾ cup tomato purée or crushed tomatoes
  • ¾ cup heavy cream (or Greek yogurt or coconut milk for a lighter version)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken with yogurt, lemon juice, and spices for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat butter and oil; cook marinated chicken until browned (5–7 minutes). Set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic, ginger, garam masala, and chili powder; stir for 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and purée; simmer until thickened (3–4 minutes).
  5. Add cream and return chicken to skillet; simmer for another 5–7 minutes until creamy.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
