  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened for filling
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon for filling
  • 1/2 tsp salt for filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened for frosting
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened for frosting
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar for frosting
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract for frosting
  • Pinch of salt for frosting

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, water, and yeast in a mixing bowl; let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, eggs, melted butter, food coloring, and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let rise covered for about an hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly and roll tightly into a log.
  7. Cut into approximately 12 pieces and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter; add powdered sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
  10. Frost rolls after cooling slightly before serving.
